What Ontario does to an airframe

The Inland Empire is the hottest and dustiest environment in this service area. Summer surface temperatures are severe, and the wind through the Cajon and Banning passes carries fine grit that gets into everything. Interiors here fill with dust faster than anywhere else, and exterior work has to be timed for temperature to be done properly at all.

What brightwork & metal polishing means at KONT

Bare polished aluminum has no clear coat over it, so every pass is on the metal itself.

Polishing in ramp heat is unworkable. Compound flashes, pads load up, and the panel gets too hot to control, which is why this runs at night or inside.

Airborne grit is the enemy of polished metal. One piece caught in a pad draws a line you can read from thirty feet.

Polishing runs in stages and a full airframe is usually a multi day job. Joel assesses in raked light before quoting, because old sealant, previous polish work, and pitting all change the answer, and pitting is a maintenance item rather than a polishing one.
